According to GameInformer, Hideo Kojima (the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series) has confirmed that he is working on another Metal Gear installment that will be a direct sequel to MGS4. Details have yet to be released but are said to be discussed in the next issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
I'll have to reserve a comment until after I get through all the other MGS games (the collection for the PS3 came out and I hope to get it for Christmas, then it's on to MGS4) but from what I understand the game has kind of dissolved into a lot of chatter and not so much about the espionage and gunplay.
