A wearable, plastic mock up of the PipBoy 3000 came packaged with one of the collector's editions of the game Fallout 3. You can find instructables out there to gut it and insert an iPod Touch, which is pretty cool. But, how about a real world PipBoy 3000? Check this linkage out. Per that site: The Zypad® WR1100 rugged wrist-worn personal computer (PC) is a powerful wearable computing device designed for harsh environmental conditions that can be worn comfortably on the user’s wrist for hands-free operation. The WR1100 is designed to meet MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461E requirements, making it an ideal solution for military, homeland defense, first responder, security, and emergency service field and in-vehicle applications.
Then again, there's always the iArm Forearm Mount!
Mmm Pip-Boy... I'll have to keep my eye out for the next time this guy in the 501st makes his kits for the wearable prop.
ReplyDeleteWait a sec... this guy you know can make wearable PipBoys?! If the price is right, I would sign up for one in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteI know someone through the 501st who sells kits, yes :) And the price is right.
ReplyDeleteHe hasn't done any runs in a while though.
If and when you talk to the guy, have him throw some numbers and prices your way. I just might be very interested - again, if the price is right.
ReplyDeleteHow much finishing does he do? Is it a kit and it's up to the buyer to finish or will he paint and weather? If the latter, how much more (I assume that would cost more)?
